Hello everybody. We are looking for players of folk, blues and alternative music to join us for a free, friendly, inclusive musical get-together at Taberna Alabanda, Calle Miguel Servet, 15, 28012, Lavapies on Saturday 17th June, at 8.00 pm.
The general idea is to meet and get to know players of banjo's, fiddles, whistles, accordions, guitars, mandolins (- anything really!), and for everyone to listen and possibly play along to each others favourite songs, with like-minded people.
We play a mix of Pogues, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash and Pixies covers with splashes of Rolling Stones, Dubliners, Pulp, Cake and other favourites. Between us we play guitar, mandolin, harmonica , vocals (Mick) and accordion, flute, clarinet, vocals (Alice) and are hoping to meet others who love good acoustic folk, blues and alternative music.
Maybe you want to take your classic folk or blues song and fill it out by adding some additional instrumentation? Or you're interested with experimenting with rocking out an acoustic, accordion based version of Search & Destroy by Iggy Pop and the Stooges? If either of these sound like something you're interested in, dust off your trusty weapon of mass orchestration and drop us a line...
We need a minimum of 20 players / listeners to secure the venue and it can hold a maximum of 40 people. Ideally we would like to set something up semi-regularly (once a month), as a chance to meet and get to know new people and make music.
We have performed a few times at the James Joyce pub (Calle de la Alcala, near Retiro park) and have a few other gigs lined up, but the main purpose of this event is to play music, have fun and meet good people.
