The Madison Brass Band proudly presents an outstanding concert of brass band music entitled “European Vacation” at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, as part of the Arts at First Concert Series at First United Methodist Church in Madison, Wisconsin.The group is led by Musical Director John Lynch, an esteemed international wind band
conductor and Director of Bands and Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Master of Ceremonies is Jim Hoyt, Professor Emeritus, UW Madison School of Journalism.
The Madison Brass Band takes you on a sonic vacation abroad following the stunning performance of our U.S. athletes in the Paris Summer Olympics. We’ll feature the “Olympic Fanfare” by John Williams, George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” cutting edge new brass band works from England and France, Edward Elgar’s gorgeous “Nimrod,” and conclude with Resphigi’s “Pines of Rome.” Principal solo cornetist Matt Sundell will be featured on the festive Napoli. Hop across the pond with us for a musical European Vacation!
Admission donations of $10-$20 at the door ensure accessibility for all. Join us on November 3rd, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church, 203 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison, for an unforgettable concert by the Madison Brass Band.
