Kick off Madison Comedy Week with the festival's annual tradition: the Madison Area Comedy Awards—a gloriously over-the-top celebration of the local comedy scene where comedians present ridiculous, made-up awards to their peers for equally ridiculous "accomplishments."

Expect hilarious acceptance speeches, elaborate presentations, inside jokes that somehow become everyone's jokes, surprise moments, and the kind of high-energy, high-production spectacle you won't find anywhere else. It's a little self-indulgent, but completely self-aware, and one of the most anticipated events of Madison Comedy Week every year.

Hosted by the hilarious Breanne Wilhite, (consistently a top-three comic in Madison), this one-of-a-kind show brings together the entire Madison comedy community to laugh at each other—and themselves—as the festival officially gets underway.
