De Amerikaanse zangeres Madeleine Peyroux is gezegend met een omfloerst stemgeluid dat doet denken aan klassieke jazz- en blueszangeressen als Billie Holiday en Bessie Smith. Peyroux leerde het vak op de ouderwetse manier, als straatartiest in Parijs, maar inmiddels vult ze al jaren grote zalen met haar ontspannen mix van jazz, folk en kamerpop. Dankzij haar enorme muzikale bagage zet Peyroux tijdens concerten makkelijk nummers van Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan en Tom Waits naar haar hand, maar vergeet ook het eigen werk niet: in 2024 verscheen Peyrouxs negende album Let’s Walk!
