Un laboratorio dove il ricamo diventa strumento di esplorazione e trasformazione dei vestiti. Guidati da Vanessa Iello, i partecipanti scopriranno come ago, filo e punti diversi possano raccontare storie e dare nuova vita ai capi, trasformando l’intervento in un gesto creativo e personale.

Il workshop si sviluppa in tre fasi: dall’imparaticcio, dove si sperimentano punti, materiali e strumenti per costruire un piccolo campionario, alla progettazione, in cui ogni idea prende forma su carta, fotocopie e fogli trasparenti; fino al ricamo sui vestiti, dove la tecnica incontra l’intuizione e il ritmo del gesto manuale trasforma il capo in un pezzo unico.

L’approccio di Vanessa valorizza l’errore, la sperimentazione e l’imperfezione, proponendo un ricamo che non segue regole rigide ma dialoga con la stoffa, il colore e la storia del capo. Il risultato non è solo estetico: è un atto creativo, riflessivo e poetico, dove ogni punto diventa segno di personalità e sperimentazione.

Al termine, i capi realizzati entreranno nello swap market del festival Madeback (15-17 ottobre), presso il Living Lab, Ed. B4, Campus di Design Bovisa – Politecnico di Milano, dove potranno essere scambiati o adottati dai visitatori, continuando così a vivere come manifesti contemporanei.

CREATIVE EMBROIDERY ON CLOTHES with Vanessa Iello
A workshop where embroidery becomes a tool for exploring and transforming garments. Guided by Vanessa Iello, participants will discover how needle, thread, and different stitches can tell stories and give new life to clothes, turning the act of sewing into a creative and personal gesture.

The workshop unfolds in three phases: starting with the sampler, where participants experiment with stitches, materials, and tools to build a small collection of samples; moving to the design stage, where each idea takes shape on paper, photocopies, and transparent sheets; and finally, embroidery on clothes, where technique meets intuition and the rhythm of the hand transforms the garment into a unique piece.

Vanessa’s approach embraces mistakes, experimentation, and imperfection, offering an embroidery practice that does not follow rigid rules but instead engages in dialogue with fabric, color, and the history of the garment. The result is not only aesthetic: it is a creative, reflective, and poetic act, where every stitch becomes a sign of personality and experimentation.

At the end, the garments created will become part of the swap market of the Madeback festival (October 15–17), at the Living Lab, Building B4, Design Campus Bovisa – Politecnico di Milano, where they can be exchanged or adopted by visitors, continuing their lives as contemporary manifestos.
