Join the Mad Science Team for some hands on experiments. Limited capacity to make sure everyone can have a go!
About this Event

Part of Crystal Palace Park Trust's free Summer of Play, witness amazing demonstrations and take part in awesome hands on experiments!

We're running two sessions as part of this activity:

12:00 and 14:00

Each session has a workshop (for the first 45 minutes) and show element (for a further 30 minutes), so make sure to hang around for both!

Workshops: Fundamental Forces (approx 45 mins)

Kids learn about forces by experimenting with gravity push, pull and inertia. Check out a gyroscope and do balancing tricks learning about how forces affect motion!

Shows: Actions and Reactions (30 mins)

Witness amazing chemical reactions and learn how to identify them. Colour changes, bubbles and fire! Explosion guaranteed!

Both sessions are suitable for families and kids age 5+*

*Under 14’s must be accompanied / observed throughout the session by a responsible adult.

Check-in opens 10 mins prior to each session at the Concert Platform. On arrival you will be able to check in with a member of staff before taking a seat for the session.

Advance booking is essential as places are limited. Please arrive in advance of your session start time to get signed in before we start.

Accessibilty:

• The Concert Platform has step-free access via a low bridge over water
• Paths and flooring may be uneven. There are bark-chippings and grass on the way to the Platform.
• The indoor room is on the ground floor and accessed via a ramp. There are no stairs.
• Toilets and an accessible available inside the Platform

Key information:

• We ask that children are accompanied by an adult at all times
• · The whole event takes place outdoors but under cover
• Please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the weather: bring a waterproof jacket, sunscreen and a bottle of water with you on the day.

Photography:

• This event will be photographed. We will use photographs to provide evidence to our funders and for marketing purposes, to help demonstrate our events. Please let us know on the day if you want to opt out. We will offer you a sticker on the day so we can make sure you’re not in photos.
