MACSA Youth Center Litter Cleanup

Time: 9:00am - 11:00am (Volunteer check-in starts at 8:45am)

Location: 660 Sinclair Dr, San Jose, CA 95116 (Meeting location at the intersection of Sinclair Drive and Lavonne Avenue)

The MACSA (Mexican American Community Services Agency) Youth Center once served as an essential resource for East San José, offering programs that shaped countless young lives. For many years, it stood as a cornerstone for education, recreation, and community-building. Sadly, the center has since been abandoned, but its legacy still resonates in the community. Included in PAC*SJ's 2024 Endangered 8 list for its unique architecture and role as a once-prominent community center, this cleanup event is an opportunity to help maintain the site and ensure it remains clean and safe for the community.

We’re grateful to the Alum Rock Union School District for allowing us to host this event at the site.

Event Details:

• All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Closed-toed shoes are mandatory, and we highly recommend wearing long-sleeve pants and shirts for protection.
• This is a rain or shine event, so please come prepared.
• Please bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen, etc.)
• Please bring your own snacks and a full reusable water bottle.
• All litter cleanup supplies will be provided on behalf of BeautifySJ.
• Community service hours are available for students. Please make sure to bring any necessary paperwork or ask about hours at check-in.
• Two waivers will need to be signed at the event - one from BeautifySJ and one from PAC*SJ.
• Free parking is available along the neighboring streets.
• This is an outdoor only event, there will be no interior access.
