Topic: "Gratitude: A Key to Recovery & Happiness." Since November is the month of Thanksgiving, our Macomb FAN Forum for November will be all about gratitude. How important is gratitude in our day-to-day lives? Lecturer and author Brené Brown says that we don’t have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness—it’s right in front of us if we’re paying attention and practicing gratitude. Gratitude is also one of the spiritual principles of 12-step programs and plays a huge part in the lives of people in recovery. Our guest speaker at this forum will be Raj Mehta (MSW), owner of the Serenity Therapy Center in Rochester Hills. The author of two books about recovery, Raj has extensive experience in substance abuse treatment as an educator, therapist, group facilitator, and interventionist. He also travels around the country, speaking to community groups, governmental and academic organizations, and families about rethinking traditional drug treatment and therapy.
