Join us for MAAFA SERUDJ-TA: A Day to Honor Our Ancestors is a time to commemorate and honor Our Ancestors who lived and died in the MAAFA (African Holocaust) and celebrate those who struggled and sacrificed to restore our humanity.
The Pan African Cultural Community and MAAT Bookstore and More are proud sponsors of the 6th annual “MAAFA Serudj-Ta: A Day to Honor Our Ancestors” on Saturday, October 26, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of this event is to honor the Ancestors, pay homage to the victims of the Maafa, and acknowledge those who lived, struggled and sacrificed for us. In addition, this is a great opportunity to remember and honor family and community Ancestors.
The day will consist of a community ceremony (prayer, libation, poetry, drumming, and more); a community presentation; and a Mzimu(Ancestors Celebration).
The MAAFA SERUDJ-TA ceremony will be at the South Side Lions Park Lake(4600 Pecan Valley Dr, San Antonio, TX 78223 @Pavilion #1)at 9 a.m. All other events will be at OUR PLACE(3455 MLK, SATX 78220) in San Antonio, Texas beginning at 1 p.m.
Baba Aundar Maat, founder and organizer of the event, says, “Only the truth can set us free from the ill effects of slavery. The healing begins when we acknowledge the pain and the origin of the dis-ease. MAAFA SERUDJ-TA: A Day Remembrance and Healing is a critical step in the healing and repairing of African people and the human family.”
This event is FREE and open to the general public.
Please donate to support the Pan-African Cultural Community , a non-profit tax-exempt organization, that produces and promotes cultural programs to educate, unite, and empower our family and community.
