MAA Poetry Launch with Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan and Nasima Begum

The Qur'an is the miraculous word of Allah. It has unparalleled power of speech.It was set in a time when peotry was the most powerful tool of communication among the Arabs.

Both poets will perform and share their experience of poetry and its relevance and power today to inspire a new generation of Muslim poets, writers and performers.

Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan is a writer, poet and educator disrupting understandings of history, race, knowledge and violence. She works to equip herself and others with the tools and faith to resist the unliveable conditions we find ourselves in, and work towards another reality.

Nasima Begum (aka Nasima Bee on stage) is a performance poet, producer and creative practitioner. She uses art as a means of activism and her work is an exploration of loss, a celebration of femininity and an observance of the world. Here, she shares her experiences as a Muslim artist in the UK.
