MAGASIN 4 X MUTANT MODALITY PRESENTS :ANCIENT METHODS (DE) (EBM / Industrial / Dark Techno)
Forged in shadows and discipline, Ancient Methods stands as one of the defining architects of modern Industrial/EBM-inspired electronic music. Founder of the Persephonic Sirens label and collaborator with the likes of Orphx and Regis, Michael Wollenhaupt has spent nearly two decades carving out a nonconformist, singular vision — at times described as ‘pitch black techno war funk’. With a career spanning performances all over the world, and highlights ranging from Berlin’s Berghain and Tresor to 12-hour epic closing sets at KHIDI in Tbilisi and the annual opening procession of Ombra Festival in Barcelona, it is a true honor to welcome Ancient Methods on 28/03 for the Mutant Modality takeover of Magasin 4.
2+2=5 (BE) - live
2+2=5 is an industrial and experimental producer based in Brussels. The project is shaped by questions around morality, occultism and the observation of the modern condition. Each track functions as a response, balancing body-driven rhythms with a more textured, inward approach to sound design. In 2020, he founded Forbidden Teachings, a label created to extend this direction through collaborations with like-minded artists.
AGE OF HATE (FR/IT) - live
Described as « Disruptive music for dark and cold basements », AGE OF HATE is an experimental live, rhythmic noise and industrial techno project based in Paris. It is built on raw improvisations with drum machines, electric violin, metallic percussions, vocals, screams and distortions abuses.
FROE CHAR (BE) - live
Over more than a decade of experimentations and numerous releases, Italian artist FROE CHAR has developed a sophisticated sound immersed in dark and foggy atmospheres, blending synthetic spells, techno rhythms, and haunting vocals resulting in an astute fusion of dark wave, tribal rhythms, and layers of industrial noise. Under this moniker, Cristina Lauro has toured across Europe and the United States, sharing the stage with the likes of Automelodi, Bootblacks, Geneva, Jacuzzi, Hide, IV Horsemen, Keluar, Mala Herba, Martial Canterel, Sixth June, The Soft Moon, Void Vision to name a few.
OTTOMAN GRÜW (BE) - live
The sulfurous technoid project of Franco-Italian artist Jean Grünewald has developed a singular style of frenetic, hallucinatory compositions — combining the mechanical structures of techno, electro and EBM with ambient textures, industrial grit and post-punk urgency. With performances that can be intense, approaching madness with bare hands yet always channeling the rage of existence into his most singular means of expression, OTTOMAN GRÜW alternates between full-on brutalist action and much-needed moments of introspection. From Tresor (Berlin) and Khidi (Tbilisi) to touring in North and South America, OTTOMAN GRÜW disorienting vitality takes the audience on an unpredictable sonic journey into the liminal space between a smoky, red-lit punk concert and an underground techno club.
