Description: Join us for a special event honoring playwright Lynn Nottage as she receives the prestigious Washington University International Humanities Prize, presented by the Center for the Humanities, for her outstanding contributions to the world of theater. This in-person event is a unique opportunity to hear from Nottage herself and celebrate her remarkable work. Reception to follow. Free and all are welcome!

The Washington University International Humanities Prize honors a person who has contributed significantly to the humanities through a body of work that has dramatically impacted how we understand the human condition. Two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Lynn Nottage brings the power of theater to new spaces and underserved communities, addressing complex issues at the intersection of race, gender and labor relations. Her creations include widely acclaimed productions such as Intimate Apparel (playwright), MJ the Musical (book writer), The Secret Life of Bees (musical adaptation book writer) and She’s Gotta Have It (TV adaptation producer).
