Lynn Community Wide POINTS Presentation

The POINTS Study, a CDC-funded initiative led by Jackie White Hughto, Traci Green, and Jody Rich, aims to understand risk factors for stimulant and opioid-involved overdoses and develop locally-tailored intervention strategies to reduce unintentional stimulant and opioid-involved fatal overdoses among people who use stimulants.

In the summer of 2022, the POINTS team surveyed and interviewed people who use and distribute stimulants in the greater Lynn area. The POINTS team also collected drug samples and tested the drug supply. In March 2024, we gathered 9 leaders working across the overdose prevention and response continuum in Lawrence to participate in a series of stakeholder working group meetings. Over the course of 4 meetings, the study team and stakeholders identified and evaluated 13 strategies that could be implemented in Lawrence and beyond to prevent stimulant and opioid-involved overdoses.

We are now ready to share our findings, including the proposed intervention strategies with funders, policymakers, and people with direct or indirect ties to overdose prevention and response initiatives in Lynn, Massachusetts.
