This course provides an in-depth understanding of lymphedema, a chronic condition caused by the accumulation of lymphatic fluid due to damage or dysfunction of the lymphatic system. Lymphedema commonly affects individuals who have undergone surgery, radiation, or trauma, particularly those with a history of cancer treatment. Patients with chronic venous insufficiency or genetic predispositions are also at risk.
Advanced training is essential for massage therapists to properly identify the condition and apply appropriate manual techniques that support the lymphatic system, alleviate discomfort, and enhance quality of life. This course focuses on manual lymphatic drainage techniques without including bandaging or decongestive therapies.
