L*W&D HH #30: Unseen Icons
About this Event
History has a long habit of sidelining female designers, attributing their genius to male partners or leaving their work completely anonymous. But their impact on design history is undeniable.
From Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky (pioneer of the standardized fitted kitchen) and Charlotte Perriand (the mind behind iconic modernist furniture) to visionaries like Margaret Macdonald and Maria Sèthe, female and FLINTA* creators have shaped the visual world we live in today.
Join Ladies* Wine & Design for an exclusive 60-minute guided tour (held in English) through the Female Designer highlights at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (MKG). Together, we’ll explore the diverse personalities, distinct styles, and hidden histories of these design trailblazers.
After the tour, we’ll head for coffee, cake, and a cozy casual chat to share our thoughts and connect 🍰☕✨
*Our meet up is inclusive of all women, non-binary, agender and gender non-conforming people. Self-definition is at the sole discretion of that individual. If you feel you could benefit from a space meant for people who do not identify as cis men to share ideas and collaborate, you are welcome.
