Just-Not-Right aka JNR

| Mixcloud |

After spending over 2 decades at the forefront of the Asian dance music scene having been based out of Singapore, JNR has returned to Toronto. This is a time for new beginnings, and probably the best time to start a new musical journey in his home city. With just a few months since COVID restrictions easing, JNR has been busy DJing under the Gotsoul Music brand, in collaboration with Jojo Flores, with gigs at Mister C and Moretti, as well as at Clio and KOST.

In Singapore since 1998, he has been purveying his brand of soul-inspired feel-good music whenever he plays, whether it’s at a bar, daytime party, festival, club or a pop-up warehouse party. In 2020, with the new norm of WFH and social distancing, JNR has been invited to host regular live stream shows for WORLD LIVING ROOM RADIO (every Wednesday) and Gotsoul Recordings x Turntables & Rhythm for Jojo Flores.

JNR blurs the lines between genres blending boogie-funk and disco, to a late-night set of upfront and underground House and Techno. His sound is a blend of Deep House, Afro House, Tech House, fused with Boogie, Philly Soul, and early Chicago House.

JNR has shared the stage with some iconic acts, having played supporting DJ to likes of Dennis Ferrer, Seth Troxler, Dubfire, Midnight Juggernauts, Lindstrom, Louis Vega, Osunlade, Jojo Flores, Joris Voorn, Tiefschwarz, Anja Schneider, Agoria, Paul Kalkbrenner, Fritz Kalkebrenner, Trus’me, Spirit Catcher, DAM-FUNK, Dimitri From Paris, Derrick Carter, Citizen. Other highlights thus far include playing at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival (Singapore) in 2009, 2010 & 2011, Malasimbo Festival 2019, Wonderfruit Festival 2018 & 2019 and Singapore Grand Prix (2018, 2017, 2011 & 2010).

Mat Ste-Marie

|Mixcloud|

For the past 30 years, Mat has developed a unique and sophisticated sound that blends house, tech house, tribal, progressive and techno.

Born in Montreal, Mat was introduced to DJing at the age of 13 and wasn’t long before playing records became the most important part of his life. As a 90s teenager coming of age in the golden era of his hometown’s renowned nightlife, he was exposed to a world class underground dance music scene.

Mat has performed in countless events, from sweaty underground rave parties to the most legendary dancefloors. Some notable career highlights include regular guest spots at Montreal’s Stereo Nightclub, a 3 year residency at Circus Afterhours, 3 appearances at the world-famous Black & Blue Festival main event, and two European mini-tours with stops at London’s The End and Paris’ Queen Club.
