Join us for afternoon of training on how to lunge.Whether you lunge a horse for exercise or to maintain the current level of training, it is a skill that needs to be learned and done well both for the wellbeing of the horse and the safety of the handler.
Open to all
✅ For those who just want to learn or improve their own technique.
✅ For those working towards BHS Stage 2 and 3 lunge assessment.
✅ Horses and equipment will be provided
✅ Opportunity to lunge or just spectate
Covering
✔️ The reasons and benefits for lungeing.
✔️ The tack and equipment required for lungeing and how to put it on.
✔️ How to lunge a horse for exercise with appropriate technique and handling skills.
✔️ How to lunge with the welfare and safety of yourself and the horse in mind.
✔️ Lungeing a horse to maintain their level of training.
✔️ Reflecting on your skills and technique and reviewing how the horse is working.
This training has been designed to help you prepare confidently and safely for the next time you lunge a horse or take your BHS assessment.
Under the expert guidance of BHS Coach and Assessor Danny Anholt FBHS, you’ll have plenty of hands-on opportunities to practise and refine your lunging technique, improve your understanding of horse way of going, and develop the key skills an assessor looks for.
With personalised feedback and professional insight, this is an invaluable day of preparation and skill development. Opportunity’s may be available to have your BHS Stage 2 or 3 skills record signed off.
Cost: £40 to participate | £15 to spectate
