Judy Hung, violin
Taiwanese-Canadian musician Judy Hung is active as a violinist, violist, pianist, violoncello da spalla player, artistic director, and teacher. Her three solo albums, Essence Baroque, Essence Classique, and Essence Romantique, showcase historical instruments and historically informed performance practice, and are available on all major digital platforms. Judy collaborates with ensembles including Formosa Baroque, Le Concert Français, and Ensemble Caprice. She is the artistic director of L’Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Les Concerts Valois. Judy holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance with a minor in Orchestral Conducting from Louisiana State University, as well as Master’s degrees in Violin Performance, Piano Performance, and Early Music Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Syracuse University, and McGill University, respectively.
Michael Gurt, piano
Michael Gurt is the Paula Garvey Manship Distinguished Professor of Piano at Louisiana State University. Winner of First Prize at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, he has appeared as soloist with major orchestras including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the China National Symphony Orchestra. An active recitalist and chamber musician, Gurt has performed in leading venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, and has collaborated with ensembles such as the Takács Quartet and the Cassatt String Quartet. He has recorded for Naxos, Centaur, and Redwood Records, and has served on the juries of numerous international piano competitions. Gurt holds degrees from the Juilliard School and the University of Michigan.
