What was leisure time like in Ancient Egypt? What did children play with, and how were those toys viewed and treated?
About this Event

Much of the history of Ancient Egypt was preserved in tombs for thousands of years. Objects inside and pictures on the walls tell us more about people's lives, where they lived and how they played.

This special lunchtime talk will give you an insight into toys and games in Ancient Egypt, who played them and whether they were for fun or part of an important ritual.

Rebecca Priestley is a Sheffield local with a BA in Egyptology and is now studying for her Masters degree at the University of Liverpool. Rebecca specialises in Predynastic Egyptian culture with an emphasis on animals in religion and ritual. As a lover of all things ancient Egypt and all things fluffy, this niche combo is a perfect fit!
