Danny Lowndes cites Chuck Berry and blues guitarists Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Albert King and BB King as early career influences. Later, lured by the romance of the Manouche and French musette, Danny would immerse himself in the world of the Quintette du Hot Club de France, featuring the legendary Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Danny has performed throughout the UK and Europe (including L’Élysée, Montmartre and Grand Auditorium Louis Lumiére, Cannes). For this Jazz at the Lit & Phil lunchtime concert, the Loftus Room, will, in the mind’s eye at least, be transformed into a candlelit Parisian cellar bar (c. 1940).
