Celebrating Sanctuary presents Lunchtime Concerts at Symphony Hall in partnership with B:Music
After a short Summer break we are back for our Autumn series of our much loved Lunchtime Concerts, with more amazing artists from around the World.
We know you'll love the variety of music we are presenting with the return of some favourites, bringing lively dance music from Kurdistan and the Middle East, Kora and Balafon from Gambia, virtuoso guitar and song from DR Congo and Sacred Funk from Nigeria and the UK.
No booking required
First up we have Zirak Hamad is a violinist, drummer and singer from Iraqi Kurdistan.
He was a graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts in Iraq, and has a wide range of artistic experience in his home country.
Since coming to the UK in 2002 he has delivered Middle Eastern dance and music workshops, and performed with many artists, including the eclectic trio Village Well and gypsy/klezmer band Karaj.
He also formed Daholl Kurdish Band, an energetic blend of Kurdish and Middle Eastern, traditional and contemporary dance music.
1Zirak also performs as a solo artist introducing audiences to a range of Middle Eastern music and drumming.
This September we welcome Zirak back with a trio ensemble, involving Song, Violin, Daf and Santur. With guest artist Shako Baker on Santur.
We look forward to sharing this with you.
