Lunchmeat Festival and Ankali’s collaborative events go way back, but this year marks something different: putting aside the mid-week pumping full-throttle club energy blast which usually whets the appetite for the main festival programme, we welcome the return of Ankali’s Shoes Off ambient series with a night of soothing music.
Leading the lineup is the celebrated Saint Petersburg-born, Berlin-based ambient musician Perila, who has ensnared many listeners through captivating releases for major labels in the genre such as Motion Ward, Paralaxe Editions and Shelter Press. Binding spoken word and poetry into the shifting canvas of her sound art, Perila’s sets are spellbinding affairs to lose yourself inside.
energie, a musician from Brno connected with the favu label, joins the lineup with their liveset of soft, dreamy bedroom-pop influenced ambient music, stirring together manipulated field recordings, spoken word and gentle synthesis together in a blissful concoction that steers steadily towards noisier realms.
dējāvi, one part of local live favourite Viah, will perform a DJ set of material that reflects her unique musical sensibilities, veering across electronica and melodic-leaning techno and house with flecks of ambient in this special set.
Lunchmeat and Ankali’s event takes place shortly after a connected event at the same venue by Gravity Network, presenting three films by renowned filmmaker Rebecca Salvadori, and a short interview and Q+A with the artist.
