While Minnie Freeman is known for her heroism in saving her school pupils during the Schoolhouse Blizzard of 1888, her other contributions to Nebraska have been largely forgotten. On July 21, from noon to 1pm, at the Nebraska History Museum, Amber Kirkendall from the Homestead National Historic Park in Beatrice will discuss Freeman’s life and work to promote civic values after the famous Blizzard, including Freeman’s work with the Daughters of the American Revolution and designing the Nebraska state seal.
Special thanks to the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation for supporting this event series and the recording to broadcast on LNKTV.
