We are honored to have 3 guest speakers joining us for lunch on September 16th.Please welcome Dane Watkins, Jr., Aimee Austin, and Teri McDowell:
Dane Watkins, Jr. is a District Judge in the Seventh Judicial District and has served as the Administrative District Judge for four years. Judge Watkins has presided over numerous civil and criminal jury and court trials since 2011. Prior to his judgeship, he served for nine years as the elected Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney. His first legal employment came while working for the Department of Justice in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, interpreting asylum interviews between fleeing Haitian refugees and U.S. asylum adjudicators. Dane is married to Angela. They have four children.
Aimee Austin is the 7th Judicial District Treatment Court District Manager, with over two decades of experience with treatment courts. Since 2003, Aimee has been deeply involved in working to support programs that provide alternatives to incarceration through rehabilitation. Over the years, she has served in multiple roles, including District Manager, Coordinator, Felony Probation Officer, and Counselor. Aimee earned her bachelor’s degree in social work in 2003 and went on to complete her master’s degree in organizational development and leadership in 2019. Aimee’s experience has shaped her deep commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of treatment courts. She is passionate about helping individuals navigate recovery while promoting justice within the community. Aimee has been married to Greg for 25 years. They have three children, one granddaughter, two Great Danes, and one Maltipom.
Teri McDowell moved to Idaho in 1997 after serving in the U. S. Army, she attended ISU and completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Education and her Certified Alcohol/ Drug Counselor certification in 2007. She worked for Road to Recovery in their Pocatello and Blackfoot Offices from 2006-2015 as case manager, substance abuse counselor, and substance abuse liaison to Child Protective Services. She started with Bonneville County in May 2015 and worked as a case manager and assistant coordinator for YAC, Family, Misdemeanor, and Felony Drug courts until 2021. Teri completed her Master of Science degree in Human Services from Capella University in 2020 and was hired in 2021 as the coordinator for the Bonneville County Wood and Veterans Courts, where she continues to work in that capacity.
