About this Event
An Army of Normal Folks is a movement and podcast that's led by Memphian & Oscar-winner Coach Bill Courtney (Undefeated on Amazon Prime).
It's based on his powerful vision that "Our country's problems will never be solved by a bunch of fancy people in nice suits talking big words on TV, but by An Army of Normal Folks just deciding 'Hey, I can help.'"
The podcast has been featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Sherri Show, Mike Rowe's podcast, and on the cover of Guideposts Magazine.
We're launching a new live interview series called "Lunch & Listen" where you come watch interviews with some of the most fascinating Americans while eating lunch... quietly and cleanly :)
They'll be hosted at Memphis Listening Lab's beautiful Sound Room at Crosstown Concourse.
Our second Lunch & Listen will be with Vox writer Rachel Cohen.
Rachel is the author of this extraordinary article "Why I Changed My Mind About Volunteering" that we'll interview her about.
She had disregarded individual action as an unhelpful distraction to the more important systemic change that was needed to solve our problems.
And then, she had a change of heart & mind.
Rachel's been covering social policy issues in DC for more than a decade, with reporting published in more than two dozen national outlets including the New York Times, the Atlantic, Bloomberg, the Daily Beast, and the Washington Post.
We hope you'll join us for what's sure to be a fascinating live interview with Rachel and Coach Bill.
Feel free to join even if you can't stay the entire time.
If you can't make this particular "Lunch & Listen", make sure to click follow on our Eventbrite page and signup to join the Army here to receive updates about future ones.
Free street parking is available and also on the 3rd floor or above of the parking garage.
The Memphis Listening Lab is in the east atrium of Crosstown Concourse, on the 2nd floor just above French Truck Coffee.
Make sure to RSVP so that we have a seat saved for you.
