Michelle Beadle, founder of Thriving Commons LLC, invites you to join the discussion We the People: How Your Organization Contributes to a Thriving Frederick County.
Whether you work in the public, business, or nonprofit sector, you belong to the Frederick Chamber of Commerce because you know you are part of something much bigger than your own entity – you are part of a community. You and your organization are contributing members to The Commons – a term that encompasses all that which, through the power of community, transforms a geographic space into a hometown.
As we step into autumn, take a brief respite by attending this Lunch and Learn to revisit why you do what you do. By intentionally locating yourself and your organization in relation to The Commons, you can be renewed in your own and your organization’s goals and leave better positioned to leverage community partnerships, enhance creative problem-solving, and most importantly orient yourself, your organization, your customers, and your clients toward thriving.
Learning Objectives:
Learn why a healthy “Commons” is critical for a thriving community and economy.
Name Commons in Greater Frederick County.
Frame your personal and organizational goals as serving Frederick’s Commons.
Identify natural community partners who share your support for Frederick’s Commons.
Explore the creation of intentional spaces for cross-agency and cross-sector collaboration in support of Frederick’s Commons.
Commit to one specific and measurable action to advance thriving in Frederick’s Commons.
Presenter:
Michelle Beadle is the founder and community manager of Thriving Commons, an online community created in 2025 to advance individual and institutional thriving in Greater Frederick County and beyond. Michelle has worked in local government management and the nonprofit sector, including human services provision, congregational ministries, and policy advocacy advancing the causes of peace through justice. Thriving Commons is designed to celebrate and promote these same values here at the local level – in our proverbial hometown – by bringing together into one place those who share a common vision for universal thriving. Learn more at www.ThrivingCommons.net.
Agenda:
11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. – Lunch (BYO) & Networking
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. – Presentation with Facilitated Reflection
At a time when The Commons are under stress from loss of funding streams and persistent public discord, we can’t afford to indulge the usual impulses of fight, flight, or freeze. If we are to thrive, we need to FLOCK. Don’t miss this opportunity to join with others who care about stewarding all that which makes Fredrick County a great hometown.
