Our next Lunch and Learn discipleship seminar will be held on Sunday, October 25 in the Fellowship Hall. Our topic for October will be Growing in Grace: Making Worship Accessible for ALL people!
Explore “Growing in Grace” to learn how to bring together intergenerational ministry, anti-ableism, disability theology and biblical scholarship, liturgical theology, and worship arts to enact life-giving faith formation for ALL people in weekly worship. Ableism, or discrimination and prejudice against people with disabilities, asserts significant power in U.S. society, which is evident in the limited presence of people with disabilities in all aspects of communal life, including the church.
As a result, churches often lack knowledge and resources to provide supportive spaces that help all people to resist ableism and embrace disability as part of God’s good creation. Growing in Grace will address this need by cultivating accessible worship practices that integrate all people—disabled and nondisabled—into intergenerational communities of inclusion and belonging.
Lunch & Learn seminars end promptly at 1:00 PM so you can eat with us, or go get lunch elsewhere after the event - everyone is welcome to attend! Registration is required if you wish to order a boxed lunch or reserve childcare, but walk-ins are welcome if you want to join last minute or bring a friend. Childcare is available with registration.
