Nonprofit boards are often deeply committed to the mission, yet many organizations struggle with inconsistent engagement, unclear expectations, and uneven fundraising participation. Building Boards That Deliver addresses this challenge by focusing on the infrastructure, systems, and clarity boards need in order to perform at a high level.
This interactive workshop explores what effective boards have in place beyond goodwill, including clearly defined roles, governance structures, accountability tools, and a shared culture of generosity. Participants will examine the distinction between governance and management, assess individual and collective board engagement, and identify the practical conditions that enable board members to serve as ambassadors, advocates, and philanthropic partners.
Designed for board members, executives, and advancement professionals, this session provides actionable frameworks and reflection tools that move boards from intention to impact and from participation to measurable results.
After this session, participants will be able to:
1.Evaluate their organization’s current board infrastructure to identify strengths, gaps, and areas limiting board effectiveness and engagement.
2.Define clear board roles, governance responsibilities, and fundraising expectations that support accountability and mission delivery.
3.Differentiate governance and oversight responsibilities from staff management to strengthen board and executive partnership.
4. Activate board members in meaningful fundraising, advocacy, and ambassador roles that strengthen donor relationships and organizational sustainability.
