Lunch & Learn - Beyond Good Posture - The Science of Staying Healthy at Work
Beyond Good Posture - The Science of Staying Healthy at Work

We’ve all been told to “sit up straight” or maintain good posture, but what if staying healthy at work has less to do with finding the perfect position and more to do with building a body that can handle the demands of your day?
In this interactive Lunch & Learn, we’ll explore the science of staying strong, mobile, and resilient, no matter what your work environment requires of you. We’ll look at how our tissues adapt to the demands we place on them, why building strength and appropriate tension in muscles and connective tissues can improve our capacity to handle load, and how regular movement can help reduce stiffness, discomfort, and injury risk. We’ll also explore why muscle is so important for metabolic health and healthy aging, and why mobility is about more than simply stretching.
You’ll learn:
Why there is no single “perfect” posture, and why changing positions may be more important than holding one ideal position.
How muscles and connective tissues adapt to load, and why building tissue capacity can help us tolerate the physical demands of work and everyday life.
Why strength and muscle mass are important for metabolism, blood sugar regulation, bone health, and longevity.
The difference between flexibility and mobility, and why maintaining active control of your joints matters.
Simple movement strategies and “movement snacks” you can incorporate throughout your workday.
The goal isn't to eliminate sitting or achieve perfect posture. It’s to build a body that is strong enough to handle stress, mobile enough to move freely, and adaptable enough to thrive in the long run. Come ready to learn, move, and leave with practical tools you can put to work immediately.
