About this Event
Leadership takes on many dimensions and encompasses many definitions. During our bi-monthly Leadership Lunch and Learns we invite staff to join one of our YMCA of Central Ohio leaders to learn about their journey, who they are, and what leadership means to them. During the time our leaders will guide a discussion around an article, video, or book exert to deepen your understanding of leadership. Lunch will be provided for participants.
This month will feature YMCA of Central Ohio's Chief People, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, Erik Farley.

Erik Farley serves as the Chief People, Equity, and Inclusion Office for the YMCA of Central Ohio. His work includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to transform the YMCA of Central Ohio's approach to inclusion, equity, diversity, and anti-racism work through systems, structure and processes. Erik oversees the People and Culture Department. He is also responsible for cultivating and sustaining strong, mutually beneficial, relationships with Columbus-based groups and organizations. Prior to working in the nonprofit sector, Erik worked in higher education administration for 18 years.
Erik is inspired by the Y’s commitment to helping staff, members and volunteers become self-actualized. Everyone deserves an opportunity to reach their full potential. We support community well-being through programs and services.
During high school, Erik worked as an apprentice optician for Eyemasters, Inc. (now Visionworks). He learned how to actively listen to the vision needs of the customers, as well as leverage resources in an effort to help solve their issues.
Erik earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison University (Go Big Red!) and a Master of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University. He is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and his parents still reside there.
He is the proud husband of Michelle and father of Malcolm. No pet at this time, but
his son is an animal lover, especially dogs and turtles. Erik loves to spend his free time in the garden growing fresh vegetables like cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeños, and banana peppers. He loves spending time with his family, especially getting outside and taking long walks around the neighborhood.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday, November 9 at Noon at the Leonard Ave Office for an enlightening session to engage with our own Erik Farley.
Participation will be limited to 20 staff, with limited seats available we ask that you commit to participating in the event.
