This special event is part of AMERICANAFEST and is presented in partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Museum and the Tennessee State Museum. The panel will discuss what music museums and archives do, how they preserve and promote ideas, and how they interpret the histories of music and musicians. The curators will also talk about how they choose what to collect, what to exhibit, and the different ways to present an exhibition. Panelists include Dr. Bryan Pierce, National Museum of African American Music; Melissa Weber, Tulane University; John Troutman, National Museum of American History; Brenda Colladay, Public Historian of Music; Richard White, Tennessee State Museum; and David Kunian, New Orleans Jazz Museum.
