This year Helsinki Metropolitan Orchestra’s traditional summer concert series will take place on Thursday August 8th at the Laajasalo Church and on Friday August 9th at the Temppeliaukio Church. The concerts will feature the world premiere of Mikko Nisula's piano concerto “Kesäyön kaupunki” ("Luminous nights' city"), composed for pianist Kirill Kozlovski who will perform as the soloist in the concerts. In addition to the piano concerto you will hear Scottish Overture by Gade and Symphony No. 3 by Brahms. The concerts will be conducted by Kara Koskinen (Thu) and Sasha Mäkilä (Fri).

Laajasalo concert: free entry, by purchasing the program leaflet (€ 20), you can support our voluntary-based orchestra.


As part of the Laajasalo concert, there will be a discussion event (in Finnish) hosted by music journalist Janne Palkisto, offering a unique opportunity to hear how the new composition was created and to learn about the preparation for its premiere. The panel will feature composer Mikko Nisula, piano soloist Kirill Kozlovski, and conductor Kara Koskinen.


The duration of the concert is approximately 2 hours, including an intermission and the discussion event.
