Lula Washington Dance Theatre-Angles on Crenshaw
About this Event
Angels on Crenshaw-August Quarterly honors the freedom to assemble, free speech, freedom of religious practice and the joys of family and community connection through shared stories, dance, music and food.
The August Quarterly was Established in 1814 by Peter Spencer, who had escaped enslavement and founded the Union Church of Africans, the first independent Black church in the United States; his annual gathering was important to the Underground Railroad and was a beacon of civil rights and cultural resilience in America.
Come early! Please wear all white! Plan to move and dance with us! Share your testimony of resilience! Be inspired by invited guest speakers, singers and vocalists, good food, sunshine and community!
