Luke Cooper has a vagina?! All he really wanted was a birthday party. When 10-year old Luke invites his classmates over to his back yard in Seattle, WA for a celebration, things don’t go according to his itinerary. Competition ensues, glasses break, bees sting, friendships rattle, and cupcakes crumble. The boys attempt to answer grown-up questions about the world around them, and are introduced to even bigger ones along the way, including… who’s present will Luke open first? A comedic and heart wrenching exploration of the last decade, through the eyes of a boy turning a decade old, Luke Cooper first premiered at Southern Methodist University in 2025 during the New Visions New Voices playwriting festival, directed by Mac Welch.
