About this Event

On this walking tour you will hear about some of the dramatic history of the War of 1812, including the famous battle of High Park that spanned from High Park to Trinity Bellwoods and involved Indigenous, Canadian, and British soldiers defending against the American invasion.

About Lucy Brock, the first woman developer in the city, how she created Brock Avenue, and how her vision for the area has evolved over the past 175 years.

About the eras when Brockton Village became an infamous saloon filled stagecoach stop and the Wild Wild West; and when Parkdale became the ultra-rich Rosedale of the West.

Along the way there will be stories about local lost rivers and waterways, including buried Moutray Creek and the impassable swamp of Dufferin Street.
