Lucky Breaks & Learning Curves
Reimagining India's Moksha Patam Through Art, Play & Storytelling
This Father's Day weekend, Join artist Priyanka Sethi Bohra for a unique hands-on workshop inspired by Moksha Patam, the ancient Indian precursor to Snakes & Ladders.
Traditionally, Moksha Patam used ladders to symbolize virtues and snakes to represent life's challenges. In this contemporary interpretation, participants will create their own playable art scroll while weaving in personal stories, memories, values, lucky breaks, learning curves, family traditions, aspirations—or even humorous moments from life.
Drawing inspiration from both Indian storytelling traditions and the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, participants will paint on artist-prepared tea-stained canvas scrolls featuring hand block-printed borders.
The workshop concludes with a playful group experience where participants can roll the dice and play on the scrolls they have created.
