A Decade of Light, Song & Scandi Tradition
This December invites you to join us for a very special Sankta Lucia & Christmas concert as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary.
For ten years, London Nordic Choir has gathered audiences around the UK to experience the magic of Sankta Lucia — a shimmering, candlelit celebration of light during the darkest time of the year. This concert brings that beloved tradition back to the stage, with the familiar glow of the Luciatåg-procession, beautiful Nordic folk songs and Christmas music from across Scandinavia, Britain and beyond.
Come and share an evening of music, light and winter wonder as we celebrate not only Lucia, but 10 years of singing, performing and bringing Nordic choral music to life.
Program
At the heart of the evening is the traditional Lucia repertoire: music that has accompanied this cherished Scandinavian celebration for generations.
Alongside these much-loved Lucia songs, the programme will weave together atmospheric Nordic folk tunes, Christmas favourites and choral works that capture the spirit of the season — from the quiet stillness of midwinter to the warmth and joy of Christmas.
The evening’s repertoire also aims to delight the audience with pieces that evoke feelings of hope and wonder on cold Winter nights. Some of these include Phillip Stopford’s arrangement of Lully, Lulla, Lullay which alongside the centrepiece of the evening, Lux Aurumque ‘Light and Gold’, by legendary composer Eric Whitacre blend seamlessly into the atmosphere of the occasion and promise to leave audiences thoroughly entranced.
The choir's seasonal favourite Gabriel’s Message in Jonathan Rathbone’s arrangement, ensures that the spirit of the season resounds, elevating this dynamic program into an unforgettable celebration!
