Join us for a splendid evening celebrating the release of Lucas Handwerker's new book, INNERMOST.

The book is an exploration of healing, magic, shamanism, and ritual. All told through the language of the subconscious mind: a story.

Books will be available for sale and signing. There will be an informal Q&A and discussion.

"Most balk at magic. But magic isn’t a fantasy from reality. Magic is a more creative way of occupying reality. Not magic as in card tricks. Magicians are afraid of magic. Not magic, as in devil worship; that's a scary story told by a church founded in magic shunning its heritage. We need a different understanding of the word—a new relationship with magic. I’ll show you what I learned.

We do magic every day, even unintentionally. Magic is using symbols and language to get what we want and avoid what we don’t.

We make images in our minds, talk in our heads with words, write things down, exchange money for goods and services, read books, and do math (or benefit from other people doing it). Our whole world is the byproduct of the manipulation of symbols.

Our society is built on pillars of magic.

And yes, healing is magic. Not because it feels impossible but because our inner turmoil results from our use (or misuse) of inner images and symbols, and so our transformation results from a shift in their use."
