LTEL 101 - The Research Behind EL Students
Introduction to the key research and theories on English Learners (EL) with a focus on LTELs in educational contexts. Participants will:
- Understand the historical and contemporary research on EL students, which includes case study research shaping EL education.
- Evaluate policies impacting LTELs.
- Analyze the impact of language development on academic success.
LTEL 102 - Designing ELD for Student Success
Participants are introduced to English learner program design. In this sequel to LTEL 101, teams will focus on:
- Designated and Integrated ELD program design.
- Program design to develop proficiency in English to meet state priorities
- Instruction based on sound educational theory, implemented effectively with adequate resources and personnel & evaluated appropriately
LTEL 201 - Instructional Strategies to Accelerate LTEL Student Achievement
Participants will learn how to implement instructional strategies that will support English learners' access to the core instruction in all content areas. Participants will:
- Learn instructional strategies that have been curated based on research to support learning outcomes for long term English learners.
- Practice planning for and delivering instructional strategies with coaching and feedback.
