About this Event
The continuous evolution of malware poses a significant threat to cybersecurity. Could the rapid emergence of another technology—artificial intelligence, or AI—help? LSU researchers are exploring the use of machine learning, convolutional neural networks and large language models to find new ways to detect, understand and combat malware, including on mobile phones. These innovations represent a significant step forward in the ever-evolving fight against cyber threats, showcasing the transformative potential of AI in cybersecurity.
Aisha Ali-Gombe is an associate professor in the LSU Division of Computer Science & Engineering with a joint appointment in the LSU Center for Computation & Technology. She directs the LSU Cybersecurity Clinic for small businesses in Louisiana with $1.5 million in support from the National Security Agency. In her System Security (SySec) Lab at LSU, she leads research on cybersecurity and digital forensics, with a specific focus on mobile and Internet-of-Things, or IoT, platforms to protect privacy and prevent cybercrime. Ali-Gombe earned her Ph.D. from the University of New Orleans in 2017.
