About this Event
This summer, we’re creating space for teen boys to show up fully—without pressure, without performance, and without the need to hide behind anger or silence. Lowering the Guard is about unpacking what’s really going on beneath the surface and building the tools to navigate it with confidence.
In a world that often teaches boys to “tough it out,” this series challenges that narrative by exploring the full range of emotions—beyond just anger. Participants will learn how to recognize what they’re feeling, understand where those emotions come from, and express them in healthy, constructive ways.
We’ll dive into:
- Understanding different parts of yourself (the confident part, the guarded part, the anxious part, etc.)
- Managing emotions that often go unspoken—like sadness, fear, disappointment, and pressure
- Breaking down communication barriers and learning how to speak honestly and be heard
- Building emotional awareness and regulation skills
- Exploring vulnerability as a strength, not a weakness
Through real conversations, interactive activities, and relatable scenarios, teen boys will gain practical tools to better understand themselves and connect with others—friends, family, and peers.
This isn’t about changing who they are—it’s about helping them feel more comfortable being who they already are, without the armor.
