The Lower Laguna Madre Young Birders Club aims to connect youth with nature through birding with a goal to build an environmentally conscious future while having lots of fun! The club will offer monthly birding adventures and lessons that will be themed to the birds that are seen in the Lower Laguna Madre area during the different seasons in the year. Binoculars will be lent out to participants and our Naturalist Educators and other local partners in nature will be leading the tours and lessons.Late September brings the peak of fall bird migration through our area! Millions of migratory birds are heading south to spend the winter in warmer climates and many of them are dropping by the birding center to refuel!
This session will focus on the dynamics of fall migration, where these birds are coming from, where are they going, and the importance of stop-over habitat along their journeys. Our gardens and habitats are lush with flowers after September rains and nature is thriving!
Program will start with a 30-minute presentation followed by a 2-hour tour of our boardwalk and gardens in search of migratory birds!
We invite youth (9-15 years of age) to be part of the club and enjoy a morning of birding with us!
