Lowen (Emily Kopp), is a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi instrumentalist – one who has moved through transitions since she began making music. Whether you know her by name or not yet, you’ve likely heard her voice, songwriting, and productions out in the world. Her music has landed hundreds of sync licensing placements from major networks like Showtime, HBO, Cartoon Network, NBC, Hulu, and Disney… to brands like Android, Google, JetBlue, Volkswagen, Samsung, and more. With songs playing all over the world, Lowen, and her catalog, are a force.

Growing up - she was imbued with musicality because of her father. He put her onto the Beatles early on, jamming and improvising with her – enticing her to pick up instruments from a young age. On her mothers side, she was immersed in Colombian culture, rhythms, language, and dance. Through her Jewish roots — a love of the Hebrew language and songs. Lowen’s influences all contribute to her organic, inquisitive, and powerful voice.

Before creating her raw and revelatory debut body of work, Lowen experienced a transformation that entirely reshaped her identity as an artist. After releasing music independently in college, moonlighting cover gigs, touring the country (opening for artists like Brandi Carlile, Matchbox 20, and Edwin McCain), and eventually landing in an early burnout - she embarked on the adventure of a lifetime (alongside her now wife), taking months at a time adventuring through the nooks and crannies of the globe. From working on an avocado farm in Tikorangi, New Zealand, to living in a brewery in Buenos Aires, Argentina, picking cherries in The Golan Heights, to jamming with musicians in the venues of Hanoi, Vienam and Pai, Thailand — Kopp learned to stop and smell the roses.

Soon after returning to the U.S. she moved to Nashville, TN and started writing songs again, embracing her instincts more fully than ever. To honor that profound shift in perspective, she began creating music under the name Lowen (a nod to her mother’s maiden name and Jewish German ancestors who’d emigrated to Colombia), then made her debut with 2019’s Only In My Dreams EP, and popular single “Just Fucking Let Me Love You”. The new releases deliver unguarded honesty while tapping into the vibrant musicality she first began cultivating as a child (learning songs on guitar, drums, singing and jamming with friends). When she’s not performing, or in mom mode with her toddler, you can find Lowen recording in her studio, The Zula — a space she deliberately set up to remind her of when she first started tinkering, and creating from fluidity and fun. While explaining her process she says, “it’s like a culmination of all the experiences I’ve had up until this point, except now I have the lens and wherewithal to harness it. I feel like I’m locked in, and can express without overthinking, and it feels good to trust myself completely”.
