As The Mothership Alumni steps into our eighth year of Low Resolutions, we revisit the concept that inspired it all: New Year’s resolutions. But unlike the ambitious, often unattainable goals that tend to fizzle out by February, Low Resolutions embraces the art of keeping things manageable. We believe that artistic success isn’t about setting grand goals or waiting for the perfect conditions—it’s about the small, consistent actions that build momentum over time.In a world where resolutions are often broken, this exhibit serves as a reminder that true progress happens not in sweeping changes, but in the quiet moments of persistence. Low Resolutions invites artists and art lovers alike to rethink how they approach their goals. It’s not about perfection; it’s about showing up, creating, and staying true to the process, even when inspiration or motivation is hard to find.
The Mothership Alumni Gallery serves as a space for artists to showcase their work within the framework of low-pressure, self-directed growth. We acknowledge that life, much like the creative journey, can be unpredictable and challenging, so we focus on setting achievable goals that build resilience rather than burnout. Our “resolutions” may be small, but they are sustainable, which allows us to continue creating, year after year.
