This drop-in style Open House event will provide opportunities for prospective volunteers to learn about the three "tracks" of volunteering with Open Lands & Trails: Environmental Education: Assisting with nature-based field trips for grades K-5 (spring and fall), monthly preschool environmental education programs (PEEPs), "clue table" staffers for Critter Scene Investigations, and other requested programs.
Stewardship: Raptor monitoring, habitat restoration (native plantings, W**d removal, seed collection, clean-ups), trail maintenance, pollinator garden care, and citizen science projects.
Public Outreach: Nature cabin docent team, trail host program, event booth staffing, "natural areas after dark" program support, presenting public programs, leading guided walks, plus training options offered for these opportunities.
We have an awesome team of volunteers and newcomers are always needed to meet demand and use of our natural area sites and trails. If you enjoy nature and you're looking for reasons to spend time outdoors, attend this no-obligation session to learn more. Open Lands staff and current volunteers will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about all volunteer positions.
