Love Sacramento: River City Food Bank

River City Food Bank alleviates hunger in Sacramento County by providing healthy, nutritious food to anyone in need. In 2023, River City Food Bank provided more than 3 million pounds of healthy, meaningful food to 308,005 people in Sacramento County.
Food distribution at RCFB's Arden-St. Matthew’s location takes place indoors. Volunteers assist with food distribution to the public, offer food items to guests through the choice distribution model, help guests transport their food items and assist with the flow of foot traffic. Volunteers help with clean up and breakdown as well and may be asked to help with food sorting, bagging, stocking, and cleaning.
The following is required by all volunteers:
• Closed toe shoes
• Comfortable clothing for working.
• Masks are not required but available.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and pull items (many volunteer positions are physical in nature and may include long periods of standing or moving.)
