Join us for a unique, nature-based writing workshop that invites you to express your longing and belonging to nature. In this immersive experience, we’ll return to the basics of connection—both with ourselves and the natural world around us.Through a series of small, simple writing exercises, we’ll guide you to craft a heartfelt love letter to nature, channeling your gratitude and reflections on nature that holds us all. Each exercise is designed to deepen your appreciation for the environment and evoke a sense of belonging. The workshop will also include a sharing section, where we will come together to celebrate the diverse treasures each participant brings to our collective experience.
This is an opportunity for practicing deep listening, allowing us to truly hear and honour one another’s voices. Come reconnect with nature, find inspiration in its beauty, and let your words flow in honour of nature. All levels of writers are welcome—just bring your curiosity, imagination and an open heart.
Workshop facilitator: Alice Yunchan
Alice Yunchan is a writer and workshop facilitator based in Port Macquarie, NSW. Raised in a small village in southern China, she began recording her dreams at age eleven—a practice that has sustained her love of storytelling and daily writing for more than three decades.
She holds a Master of Creative Enterprise and a Bachelor of Chinese Language and Literature. After losing her home in the 2019 bushfires, Alice turned to writing as a daily act of survival, and in 2021 she began a letter-writing practice to Love and to the natural world.
Inspired by a dream of blue feathers and the call of a lyrebird, she founded the Blue Feather Writing Circle in 2024, offering gentle, nature-inspired workshops that invite people to connect, reflect, and share through words. Her projects, including Love Letters to Brisbane Waters, Love Letters to the Ocean, and Love Letters to Nature, have culminated in exhibitions and poetry nights.
She is working on her book while nurturing spaces for others to explore their truths. For her, writing by hand—putting heart into words on the page—is both a ritual and a way home.
