A unique and imaginative theatre piece which, in the words of the author, “needs no theatre, no lengthy rehearsal, no special set, no memorization of lines, and no commitment from its two actors beyond the night of performance.” The piece is composed of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.Written by A.R. AVAILABLE ROLES
The show will be cast with four couples playing all the ages of the two characters.
Andrew Makepeace Ladd III - 50+ male
Melissa Gardner - 50+ female
Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, are defined by their lifelong, complicated, and ultimately romantic friendship, expressed primarily through their letters. Andrew, from a stable, privileged background, is portrayed as a traditionalist, a good student, and a dedicated letter writer, often using his writing to express his deeper emotions. Melissa, also from wealth but with a more turbulent home life, is presented as a more rebellious and impulsive character, whose letters, though humorous and poignant, also reveal her emotional struggles and tendency towards self-destruction. Their relationship, spanning decades, explores themes of missed opportunities, the power of written words, and the enduring nature of their bond.

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. Script copies will be provided during auditions.

Callbacks will be held Wednesday, December 10 at Theatre Tulsa’s studio space. Callback notifications will be sent no later than December 7 at 11pm.
VIDEO AUDITIONS
If you are unable to attend in-person auditions, please submit a video with your monologue.
Submissions can be uploaded via the Jotform sign up. Videos due by December 7.
IMPORTANT INFO
Rehearsals will begin January 12, 2026. Rehearsals will be Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 6:30-9:30pm and Saturdays (as needed).
Performances will be February 13-22, 2026 at the Theatre Tulsa Studios.
This production will feature four separate casts. Specific performances will be assigned once casting is complete.
