Louisa Lyne & Di Yiddishe Kapelye (Sweden)
About this Event
Experience the music and poetry of Leonard Cohen like never before - in Yiddish. Sweden’s Louisa Lyne & Di Yiddishe Kapelye present a heartfelt and soulful tribute to the iconic Canadian-Jewish singer/songwriter on the 10th anniversary of his passing. The program includes a mix of Cohen poems newly set to music, along with some of his most beloved classics. Cohen’s words take on fresh meaning in Yiddish, moving his legacy one step closer to his Jewish roots.
Louisa Lyne & Di Yiddishe Kapelye are internationally acclaimed for bringing Yiddish music to new audiences through an artistic vision that is both rooted in tradition and unmistakably contemporary. Since the release of their album Debut in 2012, the ensemble has captivated audiences with its warm, emotionally resonant sound and innovative approach to Yiddish culture. Blending traditional klezmer with influences from folk, world music and contemporary songwriting, the group creates music that feels both timeless and relevant. Alongside fresh interpretations of Yiddish repertoire, the ensemble is increasingly known for original compositions that contribute new works to the living tradition of Yiddish music.
