LOUIS LANGRÉE CONDUCTS RAVEL

The return of Music Director Laureate Louis Langrée brings us a focus on Ravel’s music, showing us the different styles in which Ravel composed throughout his life. His "Ma mère l’oye" is no better example of this, as the composer transports you through a fairytale of sound worlds, each offering an endless source of wonderment. In a similar exploration of musical styles, the Tomasi Trumpet Concerto, performed by Principal Trumpet Anthony Limoncelli in his CSO solo debut, brings together a full range of colors and emotions. The program concludes with Ravel’s "La Valse," swirling with elegance before gradually unraveling, and "Boléro," Ravel’s most well-known composition, which grows from a single breath into a hypnotic blaze, its unforgettable melody passing through every section of the Orchestra.
